Seminar 25 January – Dr. Svante Pääbo

The Dr. Svante Pääbo visited Instituto de Neurociencias on January 25 2019. Svante Pääbo, from Max Planck Institute of Evolutionary Anthropology (Leipzig, Germany) is best known for his breakthroughs in Neanderthal DNA recovery and sequencing, which has led his team to discoveries on the spread of Hominins out of Africa, and the genetic exchanges between Homo sapiens, Neanderthals and other new hominins, which he also discovered. Svante’s discoveries over the last decade have literally re-written the history of our species, for which he was awarded the Premio Princesa de Asturias 2018 (any many other awards).
