Basic research in Neuroscience is the most important activity developed at the IN. Our mission is to generate fundamental knowledge on the structure, development and physiology of the nervous system to progress in the understanding of the neurological roots of human behavior and nervous system diseases.

Research Groups are the main functional unit of research at the IN. The Research Groups are organized in three administrative Departments, according to their area of activity and are associated to Scientific Programs that bring together members of different Departments focusing on more specific research aims. This double structure facilitated the interaction and synergy between the institute members.

The RESEARCH axis (Coordinators E Herrera & J Barbas) monitors scientific production and bibliometric indicators, supervises our scientific seminar programs and coordinates the activity of Scientific Programs and the implementation of new initiatives related to research at the institutional level.
