3rd Workshop of the Neurobiology of Pain and Inflammation, 25th October 2024
24 de September de 2024
The Institute forNeurosciences CSIC-UMH holds the III Workshop of the Neurobiology of Pain and InflammationScientific Program
The Neurobiology of Pain and Inflammation scientific program of the Institute for Neurosciences, a joint center of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) and the Miguel Hernández University (UMH) of Elche, is organizing tomorrow, Friday, October 25, the scientific meeting ‘Somatosensory Functions of Neuronal and Non-Neuronal Cells’. The program of this meeting, which is being held for the third consecutive year in Alicante, will feature local and national speakers, as well as internationally recognized leaders in the fields of pain and neuroinflammation.
Duringthe meeting, more thantwentyexpertswill share thelatestadvances in thestudyofthecellular and molecular mechanismsofsomatosensoryinformationprocessing, with a specialfocusontheinteractionofneuronswithothertissuessuch as the skin, theimmunesystem, glial cells, and even tumor cells.
Among the panel of international speakers are prominent researchers such as Alexander Chesler from the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health of the United States (NIH/NCCIH), who will deliver a plenary lecture on the molecules and cells responsible for touch and pain; Javier Aguilera Lizarraga from the University of Cambridge (United Kingdom), who will discuss how immune responses in irritable bowel syndrome relate to the communication between mast cells and nerves in abdominal pain; and Romina Nassini from the University of Florence (Italy), who will speak about the crucial role of membrane receptors in cancer pain.
The organizing committee of the event is made up of researchers from the Institute of Neurosciences: Félix Viana de la Iglesia, who leads the scientific program on Neurobiology of Pain and Inflammation; Ana Gomis, who co-leads the Sensory Transduction and Nociceptionlaboratory; and Hugo Cabedo, who heads the Molecular Control of Neuronal Axonal Myelination laboratory.
The organization of this workshop is possible thanks to the support of the Institute for Neurosciences, the pharmaceutical company Grünenthal, the 'TRILOGY' project of the PROMETEO Program of the GeneralitatValenciana, the Spanish Agency of Research-Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, the Spanish Network of Ion Channels (RECI), and the companies QUIMA (Química y Medio Ambiente S.L.), Leica, and HB Multi Channel Systems.
You can see the program in the attached PDF file.
Assistance is free but, due to space limitations, registration is absolutely mandatory. If you would like to participate, please register at the following link before October 18th: Registration Form.
